Tropical Village Sea Club

African Dream and Tropical Village

Official category ****

Tropical Village was built in 1986 with a 4 star plus rating. In 1993 it was revamped, updated and extended from 57 to 109 rooms. A more elaborate upgrade has been done in 1997 creating 60 more rooms, whereby the facility now has 109 superior rooms and 60 standard rooms. Built right on the front of the magnificent Indian Ocean, its traditional African architectural designs depicting a true village homestead creates an unmatched elegant layout. The village provides a total experience and outstanding facilities for a perfect holiday or getaway incentive group tour with a difference. The resort provides idyllic surroundings and a tranquil atmosphere for those who wish to do nothing but relax. If, on the other hand, guests prefer to fill every minute with activity, its excellent sports and activity team will keep them content for days, with a generous seafront where guests can explore the mysterious underwater world and enjoy virtually any watersport imaginable with the resort's reknowned 'Diving the Crab' watersports experts.

Tropical Village prides itself on its attention to detail through the always available and willing staff who endlessly serve you, even during less sociable hours. Accommodation is provided in two types of buildings:

  • superior rooms in African structured two storey buildings;
  • standard rooms in African bungalows.

From the personalised service-oriented reception, you'll find a tours and travel office from where all manner of excursions will be tailored to suit your desires. With a well stocked boutique, you do not need to bring your beach gear “ all is available. The stock is wide, not forgetting the many assorted toiletries.

The lobby leads you to the main airy dining room where all meals are served. The concept is buffet with alternate theme nights featuring a seafood night, an African and barbecue night and an Italian night. Adjacent to the main room is the main bar lounge. There are four additional bars serving a wide range of cocktails, spirits, local beer, liqueurs, soft drinks and fresh juices. The two large swimming pools are a few steps from the beach, one of which is situated next to a theatre-style entertainment bandstand from where evening shows and entertainment are performed. Entertainment includes: acrobatic shows, snake shows, traditional African folklore and a whole host of shows and games performed by the in-house animation troupe.

On the end of the beach front, you'll find the 'Diving the Crab' watersports centre (SSI member). The centre is renowed for its expertise in deep sea scuba diving and other watersports. The village organises fully professional big game fishing including marlin, sailfish and shark.

The rooms have been recently refurbished with completely new fitted bathrooms. Room furnishings include the luxurious pilli pili beds, mini-fridges, telephones, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and mosquito nets. Some of the rooms are generously large, accommodating up to four beds, with enough room left for walking about.
