The Hendon Hall Hotel, originally known as the Hendon Manor, dates back to the 16th century and was even known to be recorded in the Doomsday book. Any income was granted to Westminster Abbey, but was later seized by the Crown for the Church of England. Hendon Manor changed hands several times before title, rights and income were sold to David Garrick, the famous actor/manager of the Drury Lane Theatre. David Garrick fervently admired Shakespeare and created a memorial to him in the grounds of Hendon Manor, known now as the Hendon Hall Hotel. This, and a memorial to David Garrick, still stand in the grounds today. The Hendon Hall first became a hotel in 1911. After a £4.2 million refurbishment, it now counts 58 bedrooms, all rebuilt to executive standard. Each room is decorated in a country style and features a range of modern amenities.
