David Tarpey graduated in German and Swedish from Newcastle University in 1985 and, after travelling in the US and Canada, trained as a journalist with Reed Business Publishing. For the past ten years he has written mainly on food, leisure, travel and lifestyle. He has won professional journalism awards for travel writing and for articles about property. In addition to being a feature writer for the weekly UK business magazine, Caterer & Hotelkeeper, he contributes to a variety of magazines and newspapers. He has also appeared on BBC Radio Four's Today Programme as well as on BBC Radio Northern Ireland and on London's Premier Radio.
