Ventspils Free Port Development Plan 1997-2002 insure to obtain targets and consists of 5 main projects:
Dredging of the LIQUID BULK CARGO Area to depth 17.3 m in order to accommodate Afromax size tankers up to 120000DWT . Above work complete in April 1998.
Dredging of the DRY BULK and GENERAL CARGO Area to depth 15.5 m in order to accommodate Panomax size ships up to 75 000 DWT, and reconstruction adjacent berths
Constriction NEW INTERMODAL MULTY-PURPOSE TERMINAL ( Ro-Ro & containers included)
Increasing of the RAILWAY capacity from 20 to 32 million tons.
